About Project

Delivering a world-class hybrid medical event live from the operating theatre

Stream7 were proud to support Sheffield Teaching Hospitals for the Sheffield Live Endoscopy Meeting 2025, organised by Sheffield Gastroenterology and endorsed by the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO).

Held on Friday 28th February, this specialist medical event brought together leading gastroenterologists and healthcare professionals from across the UK and beyond for a full day of live endoscopy procedures, expert commentary, and interactive discussion, broadcast directly from the hospital’s operating theatres.

As a fully hybrid medical event, the Sheffield Live Endoscopy Meeting welcomed both in-person delegates and a global online audience, making cutting-edge clinical education accessible to healthcare professionals around the world.

Solution

The technical challenge of live streaming from a hospital setting

Delivering hybrid events in medical environments requires specialist knowledge and careful planning. In a live hospital setting such as an operating theatre, cleanliness, safety, and minimal disruption are paramount.

Our experienced live streaming team worked closely with the clinical staff at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals to ensure full compliance with infection control protocols. All production equipment was cleaned and positioned with care, and we designed a streamlined, low-profile setup to fit within the tight, high-traffic theatre space without interfering with the procedures taking place.

Discreet production, high-quality results

Operating theatres present unique challenges for live event production, with limited space and strict hygiene considerations. To meet these demands, we developed a compact, mobile production system, allowing us to capture broadcast-quality video while remaining discreet and out of the way of the medical team.

Multi-camera live streaming with integrated endoscopy feeds

To give delegates both on-site and online an unrivalled view of the procedures, our hybrid event production included:

  • Multiple HD broadcast cameras, capturing both wide and close-up views of the operating team in action.
  • Live feeds directly from the endoscopy scopes, giving audiences an up-close view of internal procedures exactly as the clinicians saw them.
  • A fully managed two-way audio link, creating real-time communication between the surgeons in theatre and the audience, allowing for questions, explanations, and interactive discussion throughout the day.

This level of interactivity is vital for successful hybrid medical events, ensuring that remote delegates are just as engaged as those attending in person and that knowledge sharing happens seamlessly between all participants.

Outcome

Stream7 provided end-to-end hybrid event production, ensuring smooth delivery to both the on-site audience at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and a wider international audience via a secure online streaming platform. Our focus on broadcast-quality video, clear audio, and zero downtime meant that delegates enjoyed a flawless viewing experience, wherever they joined from.
