When Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity planned to launch their new Pride of Yorkshire campaign, they wanted to make a bold statement – not just visually, but in how they connected with their community. The campaign will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Sheffield Children’s Hospital by uniting businesses, communities, artists, and schools across the region with a public art trail of vibrant lion sculptures placed throughout Yorkshire.
To reflect the campaign’s scale and ambition, the charity needed a launch that was both impactful and widely accessible. They turned to Stream7 to help deliver this moment as a hybrid event – combining the immediacy of an in-person gathering with the reach and flexibility of professional event streaming and content creation.
And where better to hold it than Yorkshire Wildlife Park – home to the very animals the sculptures were inspired by?
Live streaming from a wildlife park posed a unique set of technical and environmental challenges. The venue offered stunning scenery and a powerful thematic connection to the campaign – but it also lacked the kind of infrastructure you’d find in a conventional event space.
We adapted the stream to work with the venue's internet to ensure a stable, high-quality stream capable of supporting a multi-camera setup. With guests, wildlife, and changing weather to consider, our experienced event technicians built a low-profile yet robust streaming solution that could adapt quickly to conditions on the day.
We carried out a detailed site recce ahead of the event to test signal strength, map equipment positioning, and identify ideal camera angles to capture both the event proceedings and the unique character of the venue – including the roars of real lions in the background.
Our delivery covered both live and post-event content, giving the charity a full suite of materials to support the campaign beyond the day itself.
Launching Pride of Yorkshire in a hybrid format meant the charity could go far beyond a traditional press call or photo opportunity. By using professional event streaming, they were able to bring the experience to anyone unable to attend in person – including key supporters, families, and local communities.
The content created on the day has since been repurposed across platforms, helping the charity to build momentum for the campaign and reach new audiences over time. This is one of the key benefits of hybrid events – the best of both worlds: the energy and connection of an in-person event, combined with the scalability, longevity, and flexibility of digital content.
For charities and causes with wide-ranging support networks, hybrid formats offer an inclusive, sustainable, and future-proofed approach to outreach. Whether audiences are watching live, catching up later, or engaging through clips on social media, the message can continue to resonate well beyond the event itself.
This project demonstrates how thoughtful content creation and smart event streaming can elevate a campaign and deepen its impact. By investing in a hybrid format from the outset, Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity didn’t just mark a moment – they created a legacy. One that can be revisited, reshared, and reconnected with, as the lion sculptures appear across the region throughout the year.
From capturing roars in the background to real emotion on supporters’ faces, it was a truly memorable launch – and a perfect example of how Stream7’s approach to hybrid event production can make even the most unconventional venue work flawlessly.
