2021
Each year, one of the world’s most respected dental exhibitions takes place in Cologne, Germany. It’s a central meeting point for dental professionals, product manufacturers, innovators, and distributors from across the globe. In 2021, the organisers sought to do more than just host another in-person exhibition. They wanted to expand their digital footprint, boost international engagement, and offer exhibitors a new, dynamic way to share their innovations beyond the exhibition floor.
To make this happen, they partnered with Stream7 to design and deliver a fully functional event studio at the heart of the exhibition – a purpose-built broadcasting and recording space that would enable real-time content creation, interviews, presentations, and multi-language streaming throughout the event.
The result was a state-of-the-art studio that didn’t just complement the exhibition – it became a key attraction, drawing in exhibitors, media, and attendees while generating valuable content for future use.
The main goal of the project was to support the exhibition’s shift toward a hybrid format by integrating a professional media production hub within the venue. This studio would be the foundation for:
Conducting and recording interviews with keynote speakers and product specialists
Live streaming expert panels and product launches in multiple languages
Creating high-quality, branded content to be used across websites, social platforms, and future marketing campaigns
Offering a space where sponsors and exhibitors could enhance their presence with professionally produced content
Capturing the buzz and energy of the exhibition in a way that extended its life well beyond the physical event
This wasn’t simply about setting up a camera in the corner of the exhibition hall. It was about designing a space that would feel as professional and polished as a television studio, all while being situated on a busy show floor.
Stream7 worked closely with the exhibition organisers to plan and build a bespoke event studio that met the logistical demands of the venue while delivering the technical performance needed for high-end video production.
The studio was built with soundproofing materials to reduce ambient noise, ensuring audio clarity even in a bustling exhibition environment. Custom lighting rigs, branded backdrops, and flexible set furniture created a versatile layout suitable for one-on-one interviews, panel discussions, and product demonstrations.
Stream7 provided a full camera rig, autocue systems, LED lighting, and wireless microphones, alongside a dedicated control area where the technical crew handled live mixing, graphics overlays, and audio balancing.
The build had to be completed within a tight timeframe, with the entire structure installed and tested on-site in just over 24 hours. Stream7’s modular design approach and experience working in live venues meant the team could execute quickly, efficiently, and without disruption to other exhibitors.
One of the standout features of this studio was its ability to support live multilingual streaming. The exhibition attracted an international audience, and the organisers were keen to make the content as accessible as possible.
To meet this challenge, Stream7 implemented a multi-language broadcasting workflow. As content was streamed from the event studio, it was simultaneously translated into over eight languages using live interpreters and subtitle feeds. The streams were then distributed via a custom-branded player embedded on the exhibition’s official website and across social channels.
This enabled a global audience to watch product launches, interviews, and panel sessions in their native language – removing barriers to participation and dramatically increasing the event’s online reach.
Whether it was a discussion on clinical best practices, a new product demo, or an overview of market trends, the studio’s high production values and accessibility meant the content was as valuable to a viewer in South America or Asia as it was to those walking the exhibition floor in Cologne.
Live broadcasts were just the beginning. Stream7 also worked throughout the exhibition to create a wide range of on-demand content.
Each day, interviews and discussions recorded in the studio were edited overnight into short, shareable videos. These were supplied to exhibitors and the organising team for publication across LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and their websites – often going live within 24 hours of being filmed.
This real-time content creation approach ensured that the event was visible online not just during show hours, but across global time zones, and across the days following the event when audience interest remained high.
In total, Stream7 produced:
Dozens of branded interview clips
Highlight reels capturing the best moments of the exhibition
Daily video round-ups for social media
Fully edited versions of live-streamed panel sessions for replay
All assets were professionally edited, subtitled, and delivered in formats optimised for different platforms, from widescreen YouTube content to mobile-friendly vertical stories.
The event studio became one of the most talked-about features of the exhibition. Not only did it provide practical value for exhibitors and sponsors, but it also attracted consistent footfall from attendees curious to see the live production in action.
From a digital engagement perspective, the numbers spoke for themselves. The live streams drew thousands of online viewers, and the video content created during the event was watched tens of thousands of times in the weeks that followed. Exhibitors reported increased visibility and brand awareness, thanks to their appearances in high-quality videos shared across the exhibition’s media channels.
By delivering an integrated content creation and event studio service, Stream7 helped the exhibition evolve from a traditional trade show into a modern media-rich experience – one that lived both in the venue and across the digital world.
This project proved that exhibition spaces can be much more than showrooms – they can be content engines. By installing a fully functional event studio in the heart of the exhibition, Stream7 helped create a new kind of show experience: one that didn’t end when the doors closed, but continued online, on-demand, and on-message.
As exhibitions increasingly adopt hybrid formats, the value of high-quality content and professional broadcasting cannot be overstated. Whether it’s for a healthcare trade fair, a product showcase, or a global industry summit, the ability to stream, record, edit, and share is now central to event success.
Stream7 continues to support exhibitions and events across Europe and the UK with bespoke studio builds, live streaming, and content creation solutions.
