About Project
Get up to Speed with STEM at Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham

The Get up to Speed with STEM event is an annual initiative designed to inspire and engage young people in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) organised by The Work-wise Foundation. Held at Magna Science Adventure Centre in South Yorkshire, this event brings together thousands of students, educators, and industry professionals for a dynamic day of interactive exhibits, workshops, and hands-on activities.

The event aims to bridge the gap between education and industry by showcasing the latest advancements in technology and engineering, while also highlighting career opportunities within the sector. By partnering with local businesses, universities, and educational institutions, Get up to Speed with STEM provides a unique platform for students to explore their potential, meet industry experts, and gain valuable insights into the future of STEM careers. This event plays a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of engineers, scientists, and innovators, making a lasting impact on the local community and beyond.

Stream7 has supported the event for a number of years, but more recently in 2023 and 2024, we have ramped up our support by building an event studio and creating content for the charity to use online to promote STEM careers.

Solution
Promoting Careers in Events Technology

Stream7 provided a tailored event studio solution to enhance the Get up to Speed with STEM experience, bringing the latest in events technology to the forefront. We designed and built a bespoke event studio, equipped with a green screen and an array of advanced equipment, allowing hosts to interview key stakeholders about their STEM careers in a professional setting. The studio was a hub of activity throughout the day-long event, offering young visitors the chance to engage directly with our team, try out the equipment, and even host their own talk shows.

This hands-on approach allowed participants to explore the behind-the-scenes world of event production, from mixing to filming, in a fun and educational environment. Additionally, our hosts conducted interviews with event sponsors, producing fully edited, TV-quality content for GUTS TV - a new digital platform launching in Autumn 2024 on the event’s website dedicated to showcasing inspiring STEM career stories. This immersive event studio experience not only amplified the event’s impact but also created lasting content to promote STEM careers year-round.

Outcome
Bespoke Solution for Maximum Output

The event studio setup at Get up to Speed with STEM successfully engaged over 5,000 young people, sparking interest in careers in events technology and production. Through our interactive approach, we not only inspired the next generation but also produced a valuable collection of content that can be repurposed across the event’s website and social media channels, extending the reach and impact of the event far beyond the day itself. Our successful involvement has led to Stream7 becoming a proud Gold Sponsor of the event, solidifying our commitment to its growth. We look forward to future collaborations, where we plan to expand our role and continue enhancing the event experience year after year.

We have had the pleasure of working with Stream7 on two large events to date and have been extremely impressed with the professionalism, customer service and quality of service provided. As well as their reliability and attention to detail they are a really friendly team to work with and we are confident that we are in very safe hands. I am delighted to recommend Stream7 and look forward to working with them again on future events.
