2018
The EGR Operator Awards are among the most highly anticipated events in the global eGaming calendar. Celebrating excellence in the online gaming industry, the awards spotlight B2C operators that have demonstrated innovation, growth, and leadership across a broad range of categories – from customer service and marketing to mobile gaming and responsible gambling initiatives.
In 2018, the awards ceremony was held at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House on Park Lane – a renowned five-star venue known for hosting high-profile galas and awards ceremonies. This event gathered more than 800 delegates, including senior representatives from leading online gaming operators, industry partners, sponsors, and media.
With a growing global audience and the continued digitisation of events, EGR Global sought to expand the reach and impact of the Operator Awards by introducing professional live streaming for the first time. Stream7 was brought on board as the dedicated event streaming and hybrid production partner to deliver a flawless, engaging, and on-brand digital experience.
The EGR team had clear strategic goals for the 2018 Operator Awards:
Extend the audience beyond the room by making the ceremony available via a professional-grade live stream.
Increase sponsorship value through brand visibility in both live and on-demand content.
Enhance the prestige and profile of the event through high-end production and seamless delivery.
Ensure reliability and redundancy in the technical setup to guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast.
Lay the foundation for future hybrid events, using this year’s delivery as a benchmark.
Stream7 was selected to design and implement a complete live streaming and hybrid production solution that would support all of these objectives while maintaining the glamour and professionalism associated with the awards.
From the outset, we worked closely with the EGR events team to understand the running order, audience needs, technical requirements, and sponsor expectations. Stream7 contributed to the event planning process by:
Conducting a venue site visit to scope technical layouts and power/network access.
Consulting on camera positions, lighting considerations, and stage angles to ensure optimal video capture.
Collaborating with the in-house AV team at Grosvenor House to integrate our streaming systems into their infrastructure.
Providing a detailed event streaming plan including encoding specs, overlay content, transitions, and fail-safes.
Stream7 believes in working as an extension of our clients’ team – advising, collaborating, and managing technical details so organisers can focus on hosting and content.
To deliver a smooth, high-definition broadcast of the EGR Operator Awards, we deployed a custom-built live streaming workflow, including:
Multi-camera coverage – capturing wide shots of the room, close-ups of presenters and winners, and audience reactions for a fully immersive broadcast.
TriCaster vizion mixing – enabling smooth real-time switching between feeds, integrating branded graphics, and adding lower-thirds for award titles.
Dedicated audio routing – ensuring clean feeds from the venue’s PA system were isolated and balanced for broadcast.
Brand integration – using custom graphics, sponsor logos, and stingers to create a polished, premium visual identity on the stream.
Redundant network paths – including backup encoders and bonded connections to guarantee consistent output regardless of venue bandwidth performance.
The live stream was embedded into a branded landing page, with restricted access options for VIP remote viewers. It was also optimised for mobile and desktop viewing, allowing industry professionals around the world to watch in real-time.
While the in-person audience enjoyed a glamorous evening of awards, fine dining, and networking, Stream7 ensured that remote viewers felt equally engaged and included. Our hybrid event strategy included:
Dynamic camera work to capture the atmosphere in the room – from crowd shots to emotional winner moments.
Live updates on-screen to mirror the show’s progression – award names, presenters, and winner announcements displayed in sync with stage activity.
Sponsor engagement opportunities – allowing digital viewers to see key partners highlighted throughout the stream.
Post-event access – enabling on-demand replay of the ceremony for those in different time zones or unable to watch live.
This hybrid model helped the EGR Awards scale their reach, grow their brand impact, and start their journey into more digitally inclusive events.
The introduction of live streaming at the 2018 EGR Operator Awards marked a significant step forward in the event’s evolution. Key highlights from our delivery included:
Flawless live broadcast to a secure global audience, streamed without interruption throughout the night.
Positive audience feedback from remote viewers who praised the high production value and professionalism of the stream.
Increased visibility for sponsors via seamless integration of branding throughout the video feed.
Enhanced brand presence for EGR Global – with professionally produced footage used for future promotions and recap content.
Established technical workflows that enabled future years to build on a proven hybrid event production model.
