Diabetes UK is the UK’s leading diabetes charity, their flagship event is an annual Professional Conference running for over 20 years and attracting over 3000 healthcare professionals annually.
The 2020 Diabetes UK Professional Conference had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 outbreak and concerns for the health and wellbeing of conference attendees.
Diabetes UK required an experienced and professional broadcast partner to assist in transferring the 2021 conference to a Virtual Event, and after an in-depth pitch by Stream7 Head of Projects Andy Jeffries, Stream7 was chosen as conference supplier.
The event consisted of a three-track programme over 10 days, equalling over 60 live sessions. Pre-event Stream7 scheduled and performed over 260 test calls with presenters to ensure their audio and video would be suitable for the event, and worked directly with computer network teams to ensure they had suitable and stable access to the system.
We used 3 of our Tricaster powered studios and our remote caller systems to mix together high quality video feeds from presenters along with slide decks and dynamic on-screen graphics to create an engaging and professional event. As always Stream7 implemented a range of backup measures including back up studio setups and streaming servers if in the unfortunate event they were needed.
The recordings of the sessions were then edited by the team and made available to watch back on-demand within an hour of the session finishing, allowing delegates unable to watch the live session to view On Demand at a time convenient to them.
The amount of planning, pre-production combined with Stream7’s experience enabled this event to be a great success. The workflow implemented allowed constant communication with the clients event team, enabling them to see at a glance how the project was progressing.
In depth pre-event technical gave key sponsors an insight into how the green room and live session would look and feel, ensuring presenters were calm and confident on the day.
Over the 10 day event our studio teams and directors guaranteed the sessions ran smoothly and to time, which is critical with multi-track events enabling the audience to seamlessly change between live sessions.
The event was hugely successful and consequently Stream7 are in conversation with Diabetes UK for future events.
