Museums Sheffield hosts an evening ‘Lates’ event where members of the public attend specially curated events to showcase the museums’ collections.
To allow the event to obtain a greater reach, Stream7 were enlisted to provide the technology and expertise for the museum’s first ever live stream. The event would be streamed live to their YouTube channel and recorded for On Demand viewing.
Working with the museum team, Stream7 created a running order to capture the activities taking place on the night, these included talks and circus performances along with on the spot interviews.
Stream7 used their LiveFrom TV Studio to film with wireless cameras around the museum and add on-screen graphics. This workflow allowed Stream7 to film the presentations and performances and stream these live, but also playback pre-recorded content filmed earlier in the day. Stream7 also provided a roaming presenter to host the stream and link together the different elements of the night.
This was the first time that the museum has used live streaming to showcase their work, and they agreed that live streaming is a perfect way to allow a wider audience to interact with the museum and it’s collections.
The stream was also recorded by Stream7 allowing the captured talks and footage to be edited into individual videos that can be used for future museum projects. A highlights film was made from the live recording, allowing the event to be used for promotion of future ‘Lates’.
