The International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) returned to the RAI Amsterdam on 9th September and we couldn’t resist flying out to meet friends (old and new) and to see what new toys were on offer from the world’s leading broadcast equipment manufacturers.
As whenever one attends a trade show, we arrived with our list of must see contacts in our back pockets ready to ask our questions and test out what each piece of kit or software could do and how it can fit into the Stream7 workflow.
As always we headed towards the companies we already have a working relationship with, starting with the stunning stand of Absen who actually won the mid size stand design award at the show!
It wasn’t long before we found ourselves gravitating towards our friends at BirdDog to sample their new PTZ cameras, camera director control software which we were very excited for as well as the new BirdDog Cloud 3.0. If there was an award for best merch on offer then we think the BirdDog hats would take that trophy home easily (See Pete sporting one above)!
Of course we couldn’t head to IBC without going to see what the industry leaders in all areas of broadcast have on offer. Canon and Sony as always were showing off their impressive array of cameras and lenses. Blackmagic Design (one of the main sponsors of the show) had an impressively large stand with a huge range of products on offer for all scales of production. We couldn’t resist popping to see Newtek, as their Tricaster is the central part to the Stream7 workflow, to see their new product the Mini X before finally heading over to say hello to Joe de Max with his fantastic Central Control software which is constantly upgrading and improving the way that we work.
As well as treading the familiar ground, we had picked out some products that were either brand new or that we had discovered very recently that we wanted to go and see.
There were a couple of products that we have recently started using in our day to day operations who have some other products on the market or new updates released in recent weeks. Prolights’ ECL Panels have been a staple of our production in recent years and we were keen to see what other lighting we could add to our roster. Prolights did not disappoint, showing off a variety of lighting products for all sorts of applications.
Sometimes it is easy to get distracted at trade shows by big toys that are fun to mess around with, especially when there are camera cranes that barely fit inside the venue! This year however, we feel like we really have narrowed down the tools we need to improve our workflow and futureproof the way we work to always ensure we are providing the best possible experience for our clients, their speakers and viewers.
If you attended IBC 2022 then let us know which stand or product blew you away on our social media!
