Stream7 returned to Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham for the fourth consecutive year as a Gold Sponsor of Get up to Speed with STEM, delivering full event production and live stage management for one of the UK’s leading STEM engagement events.
Bringing together thousands of young people, educators and industry professionals, the event is designed to inspire the next generation to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and manufacturing. For Stream7, it is a partnership that continues to grow year on year, combining professional event production with meaningful opportunities for young people to get involved.
Full stage production at the heart of the event
At the centre of the event was a fully produced stage experience, designed, built and managed by the Stream7 team.
From initial setup through to live delivery, Stream7 provided complete event production, including sound, lighting, visuals and stage management. The programme across both days was fast-paced and varied, requiring a flexible setup that could support everything from live music performances to interactive demonstrations.
Highlights included performances from an army engagement ensemble, alongside high-energy STEM content designed to capture the attention of a younger audience. Every element was professionally captured on camera, ensuring the content could live beyond the event itself.
"Get up to Speed is a brilliant event to be part of, and one we’re really proud to support as a Gold Sponsor. It’s not just about delivering the production - it’s about creating opportunities for young people to get involved, build confidence and connect with industry in a meaningful way. Seeing the Doncaster UTC students step up as live presenters this year was a real highlight for us."
Andy Jeffries, Head of Projects at Stream7
The stage hosted everything from speaker-led sessions and live demonstrations from Magna, through to interactive record attempts with Kids Invent Stuff and live music performances from a brass ensemble. Each element brought its own technical requirements, from managing multiple microphones and presenters, to adapting audio and lighting setups for live music and high-energy interactive segments.
This variety is where strong stage management and technical coordination becomes essential. The Stream7 team worked closely with each contributor to ensure smooth transitions, consistent audio quality and a cohesive experience for the audience throughout.
Every moment was professionally captured on camera, ensuring the energy and content from the stage could be shared beyond the event itself.
A standout moment - live from the show floor
One of the biggest highlights for Stream7 this year came from a new live broadcast element, connecting the exhibition floor directly to the main stage.
Working in partnership with Doncaster UTC, students were given the opportunity to step into the role of live presenters. Supported by the Stream7 team, they conducted interviews with sponsors and exhibitors on their stands, with the content streamed live to the main stage screens.
This created a dynamic link between the exhibition and the stage, bringing more voices into the programme and showcasing the breadth of organisations involved in the event.
Real-world experience for the next generation
For the students involved, this was far more than a technical exercise. It was a chance to build confidence, develop communication skills and experience what it feels like to be part of a live production.
Speaking to sponsors and hearing first-hand about career pathways helped make those conversations more tangible, while the live element added an extra layer of excitement and responsibility.
For exhibitors, it also created a new way to engage with young people, turning traditional stand conversations into something more interactive and visible across the wider event.
A partnership that continues to grow
As a Gold Sponsor, Stream7’s involvement in Get up to Speed with STEM goes beyond delivering the technical setup.
Organised by The Work-wise Foundation, the event brings together education and industry to inspire young people and showcase career opportunities across the STEM sector. Stream7’s role is to support that ambition through high-quality event production, helping to create an engaging and professional environment for both exhibitors and attendees.
By combining strong production with a diverse mix of contributors and experiences, the event continues to evolve each year, creating more opportunities for young people to engage directly with industry.
"Get up to Speed with STEM continues to demonstrate the power of collaboration between education and industry. Partners like Stream7 play a vital role in bringing the event to life, helping us create engaging, real-world experiences in the world of production and staging that inspire young people to explore the exciting opportunities within STEM. The Stage proved, yet again, to be the centre piece of the exhibition and we were delighted with how creative and imaginative the presentations and demonstrations were this year. It really enhanced the whole experience for the visitors."
Peter Edwards, CEO at The Work-wise Foundation
Four years into the partnership, Get up to Speed with STEM remains a standout moment in the calendar for the Stream7 team.
With each year bringing new ideas, new formats and new opportunities for young people to get involved, the focus remains the same - creating experiences that inspire, engage and leave a lasting impact.
