Cute animals and live streaming

Since February 10, 2017, Animal Adventure, an educational animal park in New York, has been livestreaming the pregnancy of ‘April’ their 15-year-old giraffe. Proving that people not only like animals, but love viewing live streams, with millions of people heading to YouTube to watch.

The livestream became a social media sensation with fans all over the world tuning in regularly to check on her progress, making Animal Adventure Park the second most live-viewed channel in the history of YouTube.

Here are some facts:

  • Over 232 million live views and 7.6 billion minutes of live watch-time total.

  • Saturday, the day of the birth, was the channel’s biggest day, surging to over 14 million live views.

  • It’s one of only seven channels to eclipse 100 million live views so far and the fastest to do so of any channel.

The huge amount of channel views and also the associated social media impact, must have been hugely beneficial to highlight the animal park and their work. Proving that whether your event is animal pregnancy or something more traditional, nothing beats streaming live.
