24 ‘TV-like’ shows could commence in June

According to Business Insider, the social network has been looking for partners to create unique programming for up to two dozen original shows for the website’s new Video Tab.

Facebook is losing its users to rival Snapchat and they see scripted video as a way to retain users, along with bring in advertising sales.

Business Insider says Facebook has been looking for both longer, big-budget shows and shorter ones that are cheap to produce. Apparently, some shows have already been approved including a dating show where people meet using VR before they meet in real life.

Facebook plans to insert mid-roll ads, to create a revenue-sharing model with content creators, but have paid for these shows up front to help develop the service.
