Live video relay and event production for surgical training

Stream7 were commissioned by Olympus KeyMed to provide the Live video link from the Endoscopy suite to a lecture theatre seven stories above at St James’ Hospital Leeds for the ERCP Masterclass.

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a procedure that combines upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy and x rays to treat problems of the bile and pancreatic ducts. Olympus KeyMed hosted a master class, where medical professionals were able to watch procedures broadcast from the suite to a large HD projection in the lecture theatre.

In the Endoscopy Suite, Stream7 created a video composition from a feed from a live camera along with feeds from the Endoscopy Scope and X Ray. These were mixed together along with speech from the surgeon and sent via our Tricaster over NDI to a Tricaster Mini located in the Lecture Theatre. At the Lecture Theatre Stream7 provided a HD projector along with a PA System and Radio Mics enabling the delegates to view the procedure and even participate in a live Q&A with the surgeon.

This was the first time Stream7 and Olympus KeyMed have worked together and the event was a great success. We are hoping to continue to develop our relationship with Olympus and add further services such as Live Streaming to their events.
